WhatsApp Update

What's New If you are an Android user who has enrolled in the beta program, then you should be able to see the collapsible list at the bottom of the status tab on WhatsApp. However, if you do not get the option, then you can reinstall the app after creating a back up of your chat history. The reason is that each time you reinstall WhatsApp, it tends to give you the most updated configuration from the servers and provides new features. As per a report by WABetaInfo, this new Android beta version does not list Facebook Pay as the payment service. Facebook, which owns WhatsApp is likely to be working on the payment feature and might bring it across its suite of apps and services.

Dark Mode for WhatsApp

Dark Mode is the most anticipated feature and can users can't wait to have it. This mode is already available on other messaging platforms and WhatsApp should have had it by now. The feature has been under-development for long now and reports suggest that 'Dark Mode' might finally see the light in the coming few months.

WABetaInfo back in July this year reported that WhatsApp was working on a feature that would allow users to hide muted status updates in the app. Now the blog reports that the company has finally started rolling out this functionality on to its beta app. For those of you who aren't sure how this will change your WhatsApp experience, here's what will happen: up until now, muted stated updates showed up in grey in a separate section within the Status section of the app. Now, the muted status updates would remain completely hidden in the Muted Updates section of the Status tab. This feature is available on WhatsApp Beta for Android version 2.19.260.

WhatsApp Fingerprint Lock

WhatsApp is working on a fingerprint unlocking mechanism for Android phones. The new authorisation method will make third party locking apps, which were very popular, redundant. The fingerprint authentication mechanism will add an extra layer of security as WhatsApp users will have to authenticate themselves every time they open the app. There are chances that WhatsApp could also bring the Face unlock feature too for the Android users.

Share WhatsApp status

WhatsApp will soon allow its users to share their status posts on Facebook, Instagram, Gmail and Google Photos. The transfer of the status is made using the data-sharing API used by iOS and Android. The API lets users share content without linking the accounts. As a security measure, these status posts on WhatsApp won't get shared automatically and the user will have to decide actively to share the status post.

Facebook Pay

Next up is the Facebook Pay feature. Facebook Pay is a new payment feature that is works according to the blog and this is the first time we are hearing about it. As per the report, Facebook Pay is a payment option which the company is developing for its family of apps which includes WhatsApp. The screenshot shared by the blog shows an option to add a new payment method in Facebook Pay. This feature is being developed for WhatsApp's Android based platform. Beyond this, there is no information available about this feature so far.

Google Removes CamScanner Malware-Ridden App from Play Store

Google has ousted Cam Scanner, a leading document scanning app, from PlayStore. This is because the app contains malware that is used for advertising. Cybersecurity firm Kaspersky has found that the latest Cam Scanner app contains a malicious Trojan dropper module that displays illegal advertisements and takes users paid subscriptions. Nearly one million people use the Cam Scanner downloaded from the Google Play Store.

The presence of malware in apps is causing concern in the cyber world. Google Apps in the Google Play Store is closely monitored by viruses that can infect the phone.

It is in this context that malware has been found in the widely used cam scanner on smartphones. The Cam Scanner app has since been removed from the Google Play Store.

2- Open your “File Manager” App, Find “OGWhatsApp” folder, Rename the folder to “Deleted OGWhatsApp”

5- Go to (Settings > Account > Delete My Account) Write your number and click on “DELETE MY ACCOUNT”.
