7 Best Live Wallpaper Apps for iPhone

Even if you love your iPhone to death, you can’t deny the fact that Apple gives users anemic controls over the look and feel of iOS. As a user, you can’t change the icons or manage its shape or size, can’t change the home screen grid size, and can’t even change the number of apps that can be saved in your iPhone’s dock. That’s why we users have to make do with what few options we got. One of my favorite customization feature for iPhone is wallpapers. I love changing wallpapers on my iPhone and especially love the cool live wallpapers on the lock screen. Since Apple provides a very limited set of stock wallpapers, I am always on the lookout for the best third-party live wallpaper apps. In this article, I am going to share my favorite wallpaper apps with you as I show you the 7 best live wallpaper apps for iPhone:

Best Live Wallpaper Apps for iPhone (2018)

1. Live Wallpapers Forever

One of my favorite live wallpaper apps for iPhone is the Live Wallpapers Forever app which brings a healthy selection of live wallpapers which ranges from muted to exuberant. The app is very well developed and features a lot of categories to help you find your favorite live wallpapers. The categories include a For You section along with Most Popular, Free, Trending, Abstract, Animals, and more. The wallpaper selection here is pretty good. The only problem I have with this app is that it is a bit too costly to unlock the pro version which removes the ads and gives you access to all the premium wallpapers.

                 Install: (Free, $7.99/month)

2. Black Lite – Live Wallpapers

If you own the latest iPhone X, iPhone XS or iPhone XS Max then this might be the best live wallpaper for you. Since all these smartphones sport an AMOLED screen which features individually lit pixels, a black wallpaper generally results in better battery life, and looks really good. The Black Lite – Live Wallpapers which I am featuring here brings a set of completely black wallpapers with a live morphing gem in the middle. The wallpaper just looks gorgeous on the AMOLED screens. There are a few free wallpapers while the rest are hidden behind a paywall. Thankfully, the pro version is pretty well priced so you don’t have to spend too much money. Believe me, this is the best live wallpaper app for iPhone X, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max.
                       Install: (Free, $0.99)

3. WOW Pixel

If you are into retro images, then this live wallpaper will fall right in your alley. The WOW Pixel live wallpaper app features wallpapers showcasing 8-bit adventures. There are a few select heroes, each having their own story arc which is displayed in the live wallpapers. The live wallpapers here focus on displaying emotions. Whether you are angry, sad, or happy, there is more than one wallpaper to express your emotions. The best part is that not only do these live wallpapers look good on iPhone X line of devices but even on the older iPhone 6s and above models including iPhone 7, iPhone 8 and more.
                 Install: (Free, $39.99/year)

4. intoLive

If you are someone who likes more control over their wallpapers, check out the intoLive app which allows users to create their own wallpapers from GIFs and videos. You can use any video or GIF that you like and convert them into live wallpapers which look really awesome. The good thing about this app is that it takes just a few seconds to create live wallpapers. The live wallpapers created using the intoLive app look great on any iPhone model starting from the iPhone 6s to the latest iPhone XS.
                       Install: (Free, $2.99)

5. Live Wallpaper HD for iPhone

All of the above wallpaper apps are great, however, they all have one drawback. Either they are too heavy on ads or require you to buy the premium package to remove those ads and unlock premium features. While that’s not a bad thing in itself, if you are someone who is looking for a truly free live wallpaper app for your iPhone, then they might turn you off a little. In that case, check out the Live Wallpaper HD for iPhone which is a completely free app. There are neither any ads, not any paywall. The best part is that the app even offers quite a healthy selection of wallpapers. There are various categories to choose from and the wallpapers here are more than sufficient that you won’t get bored for quite a long time. If you love freebies, definitely check it out.
                             Install: (Free)

6. Live Wallpapers & HD Themes

Another great live wallpaper app for your iPhone is the Live Wallpapers & HD Themes which brings a number of pretty cool looking wallpapers. I really like this app as the live wallpapers featured here are pretty unique and you won’t find most of them on any other app. That being said, the constant pop up to become a pro member is really annoying as it pops on every touch of the app. You can become a pro member, however, that might be too costly for a lot of users. That’s why I only recommend this app to users who are looking for unique wallpapers and have the patience to stand ads.
                 Install: (Free, $7.99/month)

7. Live Wallpapers for iPhone 6s and 6s Plus

If you have an old iPhone and want a live wallpaper app which is perfectly tailored to its display dimensions, check out the Live Wallpapers for iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. While the name suggests that this app is only good for iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, it will work great on iPhone 7/7Plus, and iPhone 8/8 Plus as well. There are more than 200 wallpapers to choose from and they all focus on landscapes. You can download three live wallpapers for free after which you will have to upgrade to the pro version.
                       Install: (Free, $1.99)

Bonus: How to Use Native Live Wallpapers on iPhone

From time to time Apple releases its own set of live wallpapers which you can apply to your lock screen. While they are small in numbers, they are created by Apple so they are highly optimized for your iPhone. If you don’t know how to use these wallpapers, here is how you can use native live wallpapers on iPhone:
  1. Open the Settings app and then tap on “Wallpaper”. Here, tap on Choose a New Wallpaper.

2. Now, tap on “Live” and then tap on the wallpaper that you want to use.

3. On this page, first, tap on “Set” and then choose “Set Lock Screen” from the resulting menu. That’s it, your live wallpaper is now set.

iPhones that Support Live Wallpapers

While live wallpapers look really good on iPhones, not all iPhones support them. You can only use live wallpapers on an iPhone that supports 3D touch, and while you may think that means every iPhone since the iPhone 6s, you’re wrong. The iPhone XR doesn’t support 3D touch and you can’t use live wallpapers on it. Anyway, to make things easier, here’s a handy list of all the iPhone models along with whether or not they support live wallpapers:

Customize Your Lock Screen using These Live Wallpapers

That ends our article for the best live wallpapers that you can get for your iPhone. While there are not many quality live wallpaper apps out there, there are some which give you access to a healthy selection of live wallpapers. Do check the list out and let us know which is your favorite live wallpaper among them all.

Facebook Announces Offline Verification for Political Ads Ahead of 2019 Elections

Facebook is upping the ante of its efforts to keep election meddling in check and prevent the proliferation of wrong information on its platform. Earlier this month, Facebook revealed that all political advertisers will need to verify their identity and location before running a campaign in the lead up to the 2019 General Elections.

In a bid to further strengthen the company’s stance against election meddling, Facebook has now announced an offline verification process that will require political advertisers to provide scanned copies of their identity and address proof that will be verified by Facebook’s team in India.

In an email sent to political advertisers who leverage the social media platform for digital campaigning, Facebook revealed that it will send a team to verify all the necessary documents in person. The new move marks the first time that Facebook has adopted a ground-level approach to verify the identity of advertisers and prevent bad players from running political campaigns which are in violation of Facebook’s policies. Alternatively, the advertisers can choose to receive an official approval from Facebook that will be sent via post.
“We are committed to maintaining elections integrity and this is something we take very seriously. We have been adding to our capabilities and defenses over the last few months and have done a lot of work to prevent interference and protect the integrity of elections”, a Facebook spokesperson was quoted as saying by Economic Times.
Facebook has also made some policy changes which regulate political advertisements with the goal of preventing malicious people from exploiting the platform ahead of the 2019 elections.
The compliance with Facebook’s new ad transparency policies was made mandatory for political advertisers in India earlier this month. Moreover, Facebook will also start showing a disclaimer on all political ads starting next year to provide users more information about the person or organization running the campaign, alongside an openly accessible archive of such ads.

Honor Band 4 With Automatic Swim Tracking Launched in India for Rs 2,599

Huawei’s offshoot Honor has refreshed its lineup of fitness tracking products with the launch of Honor Band 4. The fitness band features a colored AMOLED display, swimming detection, and a heart rate sensor.

Honor Band 4 features a 0.95-inch touchscreen with a curvature of 2.5D and a resolution of 240×120. Users can navigate through the menu by using swipe gestures as well as the home button. Compared to the Honor Band 3, which is only Rs 100 cheaper, the new band comes with a colored display and is expected to have better legibility and better utility.

Honor Band 4 reportedly comes with Huawei’s TruSleep technology which uses advanced cardiopulmonary measurements techniques to track sleep cycles and related heart rate data accurately. Additionally, the band is also capable of detecting REM sleep and offers advice to help you get better sleep quality.

When it comes to measuring the heart rate, Honor makes big claims. As per the company, Honor Band 4 uses dynamic algorithms to measure heart rate accurately in different scenarios. Furthermore, it can also be used to track heart rate continuously throughout the day and even warn users when their heart rate is alarmingly high.
Another great highlight of the Honor Band 4 is that it comes with water resistance at up to 5ATM(equivalent to 50 meters), which means you can go swimming with it. The band can also track strokes automatically while you’re swimming, that to the 6-axis sensor it uses.

Honor Band 4 will not only inform you about the incoming calls but also look up numbers online. Further, users will be able to accept or reject incoming calls.
Lastly, coming to the battery of the Honor Band 4, Honor says it will last 17 days under normal usage and that presumably does not include continuous heart rate monitoring. The company also mentions that the backup will drop to 6-7 days when sleep tacking is switched on.
The Honor Band 4 is priced at Rs 2,599 (as predicted accurately by Indian tipster Ishan Agarwal) and will be available exclusively via Amazon India starting tomorrow i.e. December 18. Beware, the band is already listed on Amazon India but at a much higher price, so make sure you check for the official listing before buying.

Nubia Red Magic Gaming Smartphone to Launch in India on December 20

Back in November, Nubia announced that the company will bring the Red Magic gaming smartphones to India in December. Nubia has now begun the hype campaign for the launch of its upcoming smartphone and has also shared a teaser image which suggests that the Red Magic will arrive in India this week, on December 20.

The official Red Magic India and the Nubia India Twitter handle shared a post earlier today which indicates that the Red Magic will be launched in India three days from now. The teaser poster also gives us a peek of the Red Magic which clearly shows the gaming smartphone’s distinct red color grille on the rear panel.

The Red Magic sports a 6-inch Full-HD+ display and is powered by previous year’s Snapdragon 835 chipset, which was a huge disappointment when the device launched and will still remain a major talking about when it eventually hits the Indian market.

The two-generation-old Snapdragon SoC is paired with up to 8GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage and a 3,800mAh battery. Coming to the true gamer aesthetic of this device, you get an RGB LED strip at the very center of the rear panel, four grilles for better airflow and temperature control, sharp edges, and a hexagonal fingerprint sensor.
In the imaging department, there’s a single 24MP camera (f/1.7) on the rear and an 8MP selfie camera. The Red Magic runs Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box and comes with a ‘Game Boost’ feature which optimizes system resources for an improved gaming experience.
Not much is known about the Red Magic’s pricing in India but speculation is that the phone will be priced below the Rs. 30,000 mark which makes sense given the hardware it brings to the table.

Huawei P30 Pro Case Renders Reveal Quad Rear Cameras, Smaller Notch

Huawei’s upcoming P30 Pro is all set to debut next year, but it looks like the company is not ready to give up the notch completely. The leaks have already started coming in, and while a previous leak indicated that the P30 Pro will feature a curved OLED display and a 38MP Sony IMX607 sensor, the new one says there will be three other cameras on the back as well.

Retailer Mobile Fun has now listed the alleged protective cases for the upcoming Huawei P30 Pro and the P30, giving us a glimpse of their design and a few features.

As per the renders on Mobile Fun’s website, the most notable aspect of the P30 pro will be a vertically stacked quad rear cameras, accompanied by a dual LED flash module.

If the renders of the P30 Pro covered in cases made by Olixar are anything to go by, the upcoming smartphone will also feature the so-called dewdrop notch with minimal side bezels and a small chin at the bottom. Mobile Fun has also listed protective cases for the Huawei P30, which features the same design as the P30 Pro with a dewdrop notch. The case renders however indicate that the P30 will feature a triple rear camera set-up with an LED flash sitting below the camera module.

At the moment, not much is known about the Huawei P30 or P30 Pro’s specifications. Some reports indicate that the P30 Pro will come equipped with a yet-to-be-announced 38MP Sony IMX607 sensor, an upgraded version of the IMX600 sensor on the Huawei P20 Pro. The IMX607 has a 1/1.8″ sensor size and incorporates a Dual Bayer technology which utilizes an array of white pixels to capture more light and detail in low-light.

However, it is a little surprising that the Huawei P30 Pro would feature a 38MP camera and a notch, while the recently launched Huawei Nova 4 comes equipped with a 48MP main camera and also has an innovative punch-hole selfie sensor.

Lenovo Z5s Ferrari Superfast Edition Could Be First Phone With 12GB RAM

Lenovo is known to be launching the Z5s tomorrow in China with the waterdrop notch, a triple camera module, and cool gradient rear panels. This will be the latest addition to the company’s slowly expanding Z5 series, which first saw a ray of light in mid-2018.

The company has already teased the phone like crazy over the past days, posting official renders and feature snippets over on Weibo. However, the latest leak now suggests that Lenovo will launch a special edition Ferarri SuperFast variant of the Z5s as well.
This tidbit of information comes from a Weibo user who posted an image of the specs of the Lenovo Z5s Ferrari SuperFast edition phone. It reveals that Lenovo will be opting for the Snapdragon 845 chipset, coupled with 12GB of RAM (yes, ludicrous!!) and 128GB of internal storage. 12GB of RAM? What sort of apps or tasks are people going to run on a phone like this? Seems something of an overkill to us.

You can check out the leaked specifications of this special edition device right here:

If you’re wondering about the partnership though, well, it’s not as fresh as the OnePlus-McLaren one but Lenovo and Ferrari joined hands earlier this year for a brand and tech partnership. You’ll see Lenovo logo on Ferarri Formula 1 cars and driver suits, as well as ThinkPad laptop in and outside the pit.
Well, seeing the growing crop of speedy and classy phones in partnership with popular vehicle makers, Lenovo also seems to be planning a jump into the sector with a Ferrari SuperFast Edition Z5s variant.

Ever since the disappointing launch of the Lenovo Z5 earlier this year, the Chinese giant seems to have been redeeming itself with the expansion of the lineup. Lenovo has since launched the Z5 Pro with a sliding camera mechanism and is now prepping to debut the Lenovo Z5s tomorrow. So, are you excited for what the Lenovo Z5s has to offer? Let us know in the comments below.
