Google Doodle honours microbiologist Hans Christian Gram on his 166th birth anniversary

Hans Christian Gram 166th Birthday: On the 166th birth anniversary of Hans Christian Gram, Google has remembered him by creating a special Doodle. This doodle has been created by Danish guest artist Mikkel Sommer. In it, he shows the important work done by Gramm. Hans Christian Gramm died on 4 November 1938. In this doodle, from Grams to their glasses, a microscope and samples of bacteria are shown. It is also seen doing Gram research. Born on September 14, 1853 in Copenhagen, Denmark, Hans Christian Gramm is credited with developing techniques to identify and characterize different types of bacteria. This technique is still used today.

Hans Grahame's father was a professor of Jurisprudence, his name was Frederik Terkel Julius Gram, and his mother's name was Louise Christiane Roulund. In his early life Gramm's focus was on natural science, but his B.A. He became interested in medicine while working as an assistant in botany at the Copenhagen Metropolitan School and in a zoo.

Hans Christian Gramm received his MD in 1878 from the University of Copenhagen. And worked as an assistant in several hospitals in Copenhagen. Research done by Hans Christian Gramm has been over 100 years, but the inventions made by him are still very valuable today. This proves that Hans Christian Gramm has done very important and respected work during his lifetime.

Gram was modest about his findings 

Gram-positive bacteria appeared purple when looked at under a microscope while Gram-negative bacteria was able to be washed away with the solvent. Thanks to Gram, pneumococci, which is blamed for causing several diseases, tested Gram-positive. 

The Danish microbiologist's findings were published in a scholarly journal in 1884 where he wrote: “I have therefore published the method, although I am aware that as yet it is very defective and imperfect; but it is hoped that also in the hands of other investigators it will turn out to be useful.”

Little did he know it would still be used more than a hundred years later.
